Typhoon Kompasu Strengthens From Tropical Storm, U.S. Warning Center Says
Tropical Storm Kompasu strengthened to a typhoon with winds of 120 kilometers (75 miles) per hour, the U.S. Navy Joint Typhoon Warning Center said on its website. The typhoon was centered about 500 kilometers southeast of Okinawa at 3 p.m. Japan time.
